- Effective law enforcement by police and municipal court led to across-the-board reduction in crime incidents in 2008 when compared to 2007
- Fire Department received Homeland Security grant to purchase on-site training facility, the only mobile unit in Mississippi

- Completed construction of Hampstead Blvd. from Home Depot to Morrison Heights Baptist Church, began engineering for completion of Hampstead Blvd. to US 80 at Wal-Mart
- Completed re-construction of I-20/Clinton Raymond Road Interchange, including the widening of US 80 from Springridge Road to Woodmoor Drive, with dedicated right turn lane into Woodmoor subdivision. Three traffic signals installed
- Arrow Drive extended to Cynthia Road.
- Intersection improvement at Cynthia Road and Northside Drive with traffic signal installed.
- Engineering and design completed on Pinehaven Drive widening from Northside Drive to Berry Drive, with intersection improvement at Northside Drive and Clinton Parkway. Right of way purchase under way.

- Relocation and upgrade of Kroger grocery store resulting in customer draw from wider geographic area, record breaking sales across all departments, substantial increase in city sales tax revenue from Kroger sales.
- Relocation and upgrade of Revel Ace Hardware
- Copiah Bank opening new branch in temporary location looking to build new facility within two years, two other banks looking at new branch locations.
- New restaurants opened, others in planning stage
- New hotels opened, others in planning stage
- Huge success of Main Street Program
- Creation of full-time Compliance Officer in the city's Community Development Department

- Replace 20-year-old fire engine with state-of-the-art pumper truck
- Strategic move for efficiency in fire fighting
- Convert existing E1 to reserve pumper
- Support for effective law enforcement
- Provide efficient traffic corridors.
- Street lighting of US 80 for Springridge to Clinton Raymond Road.
- Complete extension of Hampstead Blvd. from Morrison Heights Baptist Church to US 80
- Complete widening of Pinehaven Road from Northside Drive to Berry Drive.
- Complete improvement of Northside Drive intersection with Clinton Parkway
